The Air Max 97 "retro" Look Better Today than They Did 20 Years Ago
A late 90’s classic runner is gearing up to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and in true Nike fashion, that means this is the return in Retro form as a Quickstrike. Also known as the “we just made them limited so resellers will get them before you do.”
When these first released in 1997 you either loved them or hated them — and I loved them. More so, I loved the giant full-length visible Air Max unit that ran across the midsole. While the Air Max used here is nothing like what they used to put on Swoosh kicks, they still look like the same shoe which means I’d like to grab a pair if possible.
The reflective upper remains intact and the subtle hits of red were always appealing (to me). It hasn’t been too long since the last Air Max ’97 Retro, but those weren’t limited and they wound up at discount stores all over the States. Doubtful that’ll happen this time around.
Check out an official look at the latest rendition of the Air Max 97 OG Retro below and let us know if you plan on scooping up a pair once they release.
